I use photography alongside and in place of painting. The photographs are often what I would imagine to paint but couldn't even begin to reproduce. Sometimes they are a quick fix painting substitute. And sometimes I'm drawn to the colours and mood of the moment, particularly with night time photography.
The paintings - they want to be abstract but are figurative as I need something to hang the paint on. I hope to return to painting soon - currently I'm working with photography and web/graphic design...
I grew up in Hartley Wintney & Reading, then moved London when i was 19, working in various jobs before studying painting at Chelsea College of Art. I graduated in 1998 and now live in Brighton. I regularly show during the Artists Open Houses in May and the bi-annual Brighton Photo Fringe.
